In a major milestone for Fiji's foreign service, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, officially launched Fiji's first Diplomatic Academy at the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service (FLIPS) in Suva.
The Academy will strengthen professional training and capacity building for Fijian diplomats and civil servants, enhancing Fiji's ability to engage confidently and strategically on the global stage.
The launch coincided with a 3-day Political Economy Analysis (PEA) Training for 21 civil servants, delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Public Service Commission, FLIPS, and the Asia Foundation.
Hon. Ditoka highlighted the importance of effective diplomacy in an increasingly complex regional and global landscape, noting that further tailored training is also being developed in collaboration with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Public Service Commission Chairman Mr Luke Rokovada said the Academy reflects a deliberate investment in strengthening leadership, judgement, and decision-making across the public service.
Training will be coordinated by MFAET, the Ministry of Civil Service, and PSC.
