JUNE EDITION

JUNETEENTH: A DAY OF UNITY AND CELEBRATION

The 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration at City Park brought our community together in a powerful tribute to freedom, unity, and cultural pride. The event featured a variety of live performances, including vibrant acts from Stepz Dance Fitness, Virtuous Voices, Bronze Girl Productions, spoken word artist Monique McCoy, The Edwins Brothers, and the legendary Digital Underground.

Attendees enjoyed delicious food from local restaurants and food trucks, kids' activities, craft vendors, educational booths and the freedom walk hosted by the Downtown Brentwood Coalition.

This incredible day wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Special thanks to Fremont Bank, our presenting sponsor, and to Kaiser Permanente and John Muir Health for their continued commitment to health, wellness, and community.

To every performer, vendor, community partner, and guest, thank you for being part of this unforgettable celebration. We can't wait to see you next year!

2024 Water Quality Report

On June 3, 2025, the City of Brentwood Parks & Recreation, in partnership with Liberty High School's Public Art and Design Academy (PADA), unveiled the final installation in a multi-year public art series: Birds of Beauty. Located at the corner of Sand Creek Road and O'Hara Avenue, this student-created sculpture features native bird species found in the local ecosystem, including the golden eagle, blue heron, long-billed curlew, and barn owl. Building on the 2024 Tri-Fish installation, Birds of Beauty highlights the ongoing collaboration between the City and the Liberty Union High School District to bring meaningful, student-led art to Brentwood's public spaces.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

SHORT-TERM RENTALS ARE PROHIBITED IN BRENTWOOD

To preserve neighborhood character and maintain housing stability, the City of Brentwood does not allow short-term rentals of residential properties.

  • What is a short-term rental? Any rental of a home, room, or even outdoor amenities (like pools or backyards) for 30 days or fewer.

  • What does this mean for residents? It is unlawful to advertise, list, or rent any part of your property for short stays, whether through websites, apps, or private agreements.

  • Why this policy? To support long-term housing, reduce disruption in residential neighborhoods, and protect the community's quality of life.

For questions, contact the Community Development Department at (925) 516-5405

WHEN TO CALL DISPATCH ON THE 4TH OF JULY

We understand the 4th of July brings celebrations, fireworks, and community gatherings, but it's also a time to stay safe and informed. Here's when to call Dispatch:

Call 9-1-1 for emergencies:

  • Medical emergencies

  • Fire or structure fires

  • Active fights or dangerous situations

  • Fireworks causing injury or threatening structures

Call our non-emergency line (925-809-7911) for:

  • Illegal fireworks being set off (Please be patient as these calls increase significantly)

  • Noise complaints

  • Suspicious activity that is not life-threatening

  • Traffic concerns or hazards

Please do not call Dispatch for:

  • General questions about events or firework shows

  • Social media rumors or complaints that are not safety-related

  • Venting frustrations (we get it, but we need to keep lines open for emergencies)

Let's work together to have a safe and fun 4th of July. Thank you for your support and understanding!
