We need to find long-term solutions to improve road safety, said the President of the National Assembly Nataliya Kiselova. She opened a discussion forum in Parliament on "Order, Law and Security on the Road", organized on the initiative of the parliamentary group "BSP - United Left".
We are open to any reasonable proposal that can save lives and avoid injuries in road accidents, noted Nataliya Kiselova. She expressed hope that the 51st National Assembly would be different from the others, which were dissolved very quickly and did not pay attention to issues and problems that affect Bulgarian citizens every day. One of these problems is road aggression, Nataliya Kiselova stressed. According to her, this problem is multifaceted and many people from associations and institutions have come to the National Assembly who expect the MPs to not only listen to them, but also to take concrete steps.
I will make every effort to get the National Assembly working at top efficiency and to have committees to consider the proposals of the participants in the forum, said Nataliya Kiselova. We have to realize that this problem affects all of us and every family can suffer, she added. According to her, not only the most severe punishments should be sought, but also the possibilities for prevention, as it should be before the sanction.
The Bills for amendment and supplementation of the Road Traffic Act, submitted to the National Assembly, and the effective management of the resources received in the Road Safety Fund were among the topics of the forum. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the State Road Safety Agency, representatives of driving instructors, the "Angels on the Road" association, uniting relatives of those killed in accidents, as well as other organizations and institutions.
