Today, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) sent a letter to the CEO of the Home Depot demanding answers about the company's repeated allowance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity at its stores, including a December 2025 incident at a store location in Ewing, NJ.
Across the country, Home Depot locations have become reliable sites for ICE enforcement, putting day laborers, employees, and customers at risk. The reckless actions of DHS have resulted in detentions, community unrest, and deadly consequences, including the killing of a father during an ICE raid at a Home Depot in southern California.
In Ewing, ICE activity at Home Depot was followed by a community protest and the appearance of the Proud Boys, needlessly intensifying fear and instability in a historically diverse community. These outcomes were predictable, but completely avoidable. Home Depot continues to profit from immigrant labor while allowing its stores to be used for enforcement actions that endanger lives and tear at the fabric of local communities.
The Congresswoman has demanded that Home Depot disclose the extent of its cooperation with ICE and explain what, if anything, it is doing to protect workers and community members. She has requested a response by February 20th.
The letter can be read here.
