City of Glendale Community Academy Returns
Glendale, CA - The City of Glendale is excited to announce the return of the Glendale Community Academy, a multi-week learning experience designed to educate and engage residents in the inner workings of local government. Running every Thursday from August 21st to October 2nd, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the City Hall Campus, this free program offers participants with an inside look at how City departments operate, make decisions, and serve the community. Through a mix of classroom-style learning, expert-led presentations, and interactive exercises, participants will gain a deeper understanding of municipal services, meet City leaders, and connect with fellow residents who share an interest in civic engagement.
Program highlights include:
The program welcomes both longtime residents and those new to Glendale who are interested in learning about local government and becoming more engaged in the community.
Launched in 2023, the Glendale Community Academy proved to be an impactful program. As a direct outcome, the City welcomed a new Commissioner and two participants who later joined the City workforce. Due to high demand, a waiting list was established. Individuals on that list will be given priority for enrollment in the 2025 Academy, with any remaining spots offered to the general public. As a result, space is limited this year.
"When this program was launched during Councilmember Kassakhian's term as Mayor, the goal was to increase engagement between residents and City Hall. Seeing graduates take on City Commissioner roles and join our workforce is gratifying and we are happy to be able to host a second cohort," said Mayor Ara Najarian.
Applications close on July 31, 2025. To apply, visit GlendaleCA.gov/CommunityAcademy.
