WASHINGTON, D.C. (Apr. 6, 2026) -Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) released the following statement regarding newly surfaced sexually explicit text messages allegedly sent by Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) to a second staffer:
"'What kind of panties do you wear?'
"'I know what I want and won't stop until I get it.'
"These are just a few of the DISGUSTING alleged texts Tony Gonzales sent to a staffer years before his affair with another aide who later took her own life by setting herself on fire.
"This is now the second reported staffer Gonzales targeted. Hundreds of lewd, relentless texts. Pressing her for nude photos. Asking what she wears to bed. And when she said no, he kept going anyway.
"She told him: 'This behavior needs to stop.'
"He didn't stop. And he continued to serve in Congress.
"Why are predators protected and always allowed to stay in power? Last month, we forced a vote to publicly release Congressional sexual harassment records. 357 members from both parties killed it. They chose the cover-up over the victims.
"The American people deserve to know what's happening in the halls of Congress on their dime. They deserve to know when so-called representatives are abusing power instead of serving their constituents. Nobody in Congress should get to play by a different set of rules.
"Americans deserve better.
"We will NEVER be silent when it comes to protecting others. Ever."
