Special Envoy Zhai Jun of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Attends the Extended Ministerial Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation-League of Arab[...]

On April 11, 2025, the extended ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation-League of Arab States Gaza Contact Group was held in Antalya, Türkiye. Members of the Contact Group and high-level representatives from China, Russia, Spain, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia and the European Union attended the meeting. Special Envoy Zhai Jun of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue attended the meeting upon invitation.

The meeting adopted the Joint Statement of the Antalya Ministerial Meeting for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and Lasting Peace in the Middle East, expressing grave concern over the recent situation in the occupied Palestinian Territory and calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in accordance with relevant United Nations (U.N.) resolutions to ensure prompt, sustained and unhindered humanitarian assistance to Gaza, while calling on the international community to take active measures promoting a just settlement of the Palestinian question on the basis of the two-State solution.

Zhai Jun said, the Palestinian question is at the heart of the Middle East issue. At present, the war in Gaza has resumed, and the urgent task is to achieve an immediate ceasefire. China calls on all relevant parties to work together for the continuous and effective implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement in a serious and responsible manner, so as to avoid greater humanitarian tragedies. China firmly supports "Palestinians governing Palestine", supports the early recovery and reconstruction plan of Gaza endorsed by the majority of Arab and Islamic countries, and supports the early realization of an independent State of Palestine in accordance with relevant U.N. resolutions. China will continue to stand firmly on the side of international fairness and justice and make active efforts to promote peace between Palestine and Israel and peace and stability in the Middle East.
