WATCH: Nunn Highlights Working Families Tax Cuts with Iowa Manufacturers

"Small businesses are the backbone of Iowa's economy, and the Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering the certainty they need to invest and grow," said Rep. Nunn . "Brandon Dahm and his team at IME are onshoring manufacturing right here in Des Moines, building the capacity to supply our aerospace and defense industries with American-made parts. That's the Made in America success story Iowa is leading, and I'll keep fighting to make sure our tax code works for the manufacturers and small businesses creating jobs here at home."

During the tour, Rep. Nunn met with IME co-owners Brandon Dahm, Matthew Sawhill, and Todd Freeland to discuss how provisions in the Working Families Tax Cuts are helping the company reinvest and expand, including:

  • 100% Bonus Depreciation : Allows manufacturers to immediately write off the full cost of new machinery and equipment instead of depreciating over multiple years - freeing up capital for growth.
  • Section 179 Expensing Raised to $2.5 Million : Doubles the cap on equipment purchases businesses can immediately deduct, directly supporting manufacturers investing in new production capacity.
  • Permanent 20% Small Business Deduction : Locks in the pass-through deduction for Iowa businesses structured as LLCs, S-corps, and partnerships - preventing an automatic tax hike.

Rep. Nunn also discussed the recently passed AI for Main Street Act and how artificial intelligence tools can help small manufacturers improve efficiency and compete globally.
