OC Parks’ 'Claim Your OC Parks Adventure' Installation Now on Display at John Wayne Airport

Located in John Wayne Airport Terminals A, B and C, each of the six baggage claim carousels feature a three-dimensional installation representing OC Parks' award-winning regional, wilderness and historic parks, beaches, paleontology collection and the OC Zoo. The campaign brings the outdoors in, encouraging visitors and residents arriving in Orange County to explore OC Parks' facilities, events and programs available throughout nearly 60,000 acres of parkland.

"These installations highlight the unique outdoor experiences waiting to be discovered across our County park system, including fossil beds, stunning regional parks and more" said Chair Doug Chaffee, Orange County Board of Supervisors. "Each display captures the spirit of our diverse park offerings and encourages visitors to begin their next adventure waiting just beyond the airport doors."

"Visitors and locals alike are greeted with a warm Orange County welcome that encourages everyone to enjoy the beautiful parks and beaches that make Orange County the paradise we call home," said Vice Chair Katrina Foley, Orange County Board of Supervisors. "This display highlights some of the best outdoor spaces OC has to offer, including hundreds of miles of trails, miles of pristine beaches and so much more."

The campaign is comprised of six custom carousel displays that include scenescapes of OC Parks facilities, custom corresponding travel posters and a map of County parks. All signage includes a QR code directing visitors to a dedicated webpage with an interactive map, information about the campaign and all OC Parks facilities. A small postcard handout is also available for travelers to take with them.

Carousels in Terminal A include the "Claim Your Play Day" display representing the County's various regional parks, along with the "Claim Your Local History" display featuring a replica of the Old Orange County Courthouse inviting visitors to learn about Orange County's historic sites.

Supervisor Janet Nguyen, Orange County Board of Supervisors said, "Baggage claim is the perfect place for showcasing our beautiful parks and the many things we offer to the public. Orange County has everything from a zoo to wilderness areas and some of California's most gorgeous coastline - come see for yourself!"

"Orange County's rich history shines through in this campaign, showcasing our many historical sites featured on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Old Orange County Courthouse, Southern California's oldest court building dedicated in 1901," added Supervisor Vincente Sarmiento, Orange County Board of Supervisors.

In Terminal B, the "Claim Your Fossil Find" installation includes a faux "dig pit," promoting the County's extensive local fossil collection, some of which are on display at Ralph B. Clark Regional Park. The "Claim Your Outdoor Escape" display, also located in Terminal B, features a life-sized mountain bike, hiking boots, native plants and other elements commonly found within the County's scenic wilderness parks.

Terminal C features "Claim Your Coastal Getaway" with a scenescape of a quintessential Orange County beach day, while the "Claim Your Wild Side" display represents the OC Zoo, where visitors can learn about animals native to the southwest.

"The OC Zoo is a cherished part of our community where visitors of all ages can discover the incredible wildlife that call Southern California home and the meaningful work the zookeepers do to care for the animals," said Supervisor Donald P. Wagner, Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Visitors viewing the installations are encouraged to scan the QR code to learn more about OC Parks' regional and wilderness parks, hundreds of miles of scenic trails and bikeways, unique historic sites, picturesque sunny beaches and the OC Zoo.
