ATLANTA - State Representative Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners), chairman of the House Information and Audits Committee, was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability.
"I'm grateful to be appointed by Speaker Burns to serve on the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability," said Chairman Hilton. "I look forward to working with members of this study committee to enhance transparency and accountability in how we measure academic success so that parents are confident their child is receiving the very best education. As a champion for public education, I'm proud of the work we've done to create cell phone-free classrooms, raise teacher pay and strengthen school security-this study committee will build off that great success."
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability will evaluate Georgia's education evaluation measures to strengthen accountability, improve student success and strengthen teacher recruitment and retention.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Bethany Ballard (R-Warner Robins), Carmen Rice (R-Columbus), Sandy Donatucci (R-Buford), Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), Phil Olaleye (D-Atlanta), Karen Lupton (D-Chamblee), Omari Crawford (D-Decatur), Deborah Silcox (R-Sandy Springs) and Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons).

Representative Scott Hilton represents the citizens of District 48, which includes portions of Fulton and Gwinnett counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and re-elected in 2022 and 2024 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Information and Audits Committee and as Secretary of the Education Committee. He also serves on the Public and Community Health, State Properties and Ways & Means committees.
