Continuing to take an active role in providing safe and healthy environments for Tampa's teenagers, the Tampa Parks & Recreation Department and the Tampa Police Department have launched summer programming ahead of the final week of the 2026 school year.
Stay & Play and the Police Athletic League (PAL) activities typically start after school finishes for the academic year, but this year five Parks & Recreation Centers and PAL will kick things off this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, May 22-24.
Sports, teen rooms, multimedia rooms, and free food will all be available in a supervised, secure environments.
"Tampa's teenagers don't need to look far for something to do this summer, and we're making sure of that before the school year even wraps up," said Mayor Jane Castor. "Safe spaces, food, and something worth showing up for, that's what Stay & Play and PAL deliver every year, and we're proud to get the doors open early."
The sites and locations and times for May 22-24 programmingare:
Stay & Play, 6 p.m. - Midnight
* Copeland Park, 11001 N 15th St.
* Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 2200 N Oregon Ave.
* Jackson Heights, 3010 E Lake Ave.
* Port Tampa, 4702 W McCoy St.
* Springhill Recreation Center, 1000 E Eskimo Ave.
PAL Midnight Basketball, 7 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
* Police Athletic League, 1924 W Diana St.
Summer programming will then will resume May 29, the last day for public schools in Hillsborough County. It will continue daily, including Sundays, until August 8. For the duration of the summer, nine Parks & Recreation centers will be open everyday.
Any organizations or individuals who would like to provide programming or activities for teens during the summer are encouraged to complete the Teen Empowerment Interest Form at Tampa.gov/parks.
