The Joint Committee on Transport will meet on Wednesday, 17th June 2026, at 9.45am in Committee Room 4, Leinster House for engagement with Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Sean Canney TD.
Cathaoirleach of the Joint Committee on Transport, Deputy Michael Murphy TD, said: "The Committee welcomes the Minister of State at the Department of Transport to tomorrow's meeting. Following the highest number of road fatalities recorded in recent years, road safety remains a central priority for the Committee. Through a programme of targeted engagements, we are working towards a practical report with clear recommendations for Government aimed at reducing deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
"Among the topics we will discuss with Minister Canney are the Road Safety Strategy, the Phase 2 Action Plan and the National Safety Camera Strategy. The Committee is keen to assess the effectiveness of these measures, the progress made to date and what additional actions may be required to improve road safety outcomes. We will seek detailed information on how Government intends to address the continuing challenges on our roads and deliver meaningful reductions in fatalities and serious injuries."
