JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work planned in the mid-Missouri area March 23-29, 2026. Weather conditions may postpone scheduled work. Many projects will include lane closures which could cause delays.
All Counties
In addition to the work listed below, other moving operations such as pothole patching, brush cutting, and pavement repairs continue in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert for slow-moving equipment.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Boone County
Missouri Route 124 - Culvert replacement planned at Lakeside Club Drive March 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Interstate 70 - Median work requiring a closure of the westbound left-hand (passing) lane is planned March 26 from Missouri Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard, Exit 124) in Columbia to Route BB (Exit 115) near Rocheport between 7 p.m. and midnight as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project. This portion of the project, which spans from Rocheport to Columbia, has an overall completion date in 2029. **
North Outer Road 70 - CLOSED at Cedar Creek, west of Callaway County Route J (near mile marker 136.6) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. There is no designated detour, but signs will be located ahead of the closure to alert motorist to use an alternate route for the duration of the closure, which is expected through January 2027. **
U.S. Route 63 - Interchange improvements at Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) continue. This project is scheduled to continue through November 2026. More information: www.modot.org/projects/63ACInterchange.
I-70 - New pavement construction from west of St. Charles Road (near mile marker 130) to the Callaway County line (near mile marker 136) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project, which has an overall completion date in 2027. **
Callaway County
Route J - Shoulder work planned March 23-26 from Route F to Route MM (Millersburg to New Bloomfield). One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
U.S. Route 54 - Traffic shift at I-70 in Kingdom City. Westbound U.S. Route 54 has been moved onto the newly constructed bridge, and eastbound U.S. Route 54 shifted onto the current westbound lanes. All ramps are expected to remain open during this phase of construction, which is expected to continue into early April 2026. **
North Outer Road 70 - CLOSED at Cedar Creek, west of Route J (near mile marker 136.6) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. I-70 - New pavement construction continues from Route M (near mile marker 144) to Kingdom City (near mile marker 148) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project, which has an overall completion date in 2027. **
Camden County
U.S. Route 54 - Pavement widening and driveway entrance improvements continue in Camdenton. Traffic is shifted between Business Route 5 and Bumper Hill Road, with one lane open in each direction, but no center turn lane. Drainage and driveway work scheduled from Whispering Pines to Panoramic Drive. The traffic shift is expected to remain in place through spring 2026.
Cole County
Missouri Route 179 - Tree trimming planned March 24 at the Rock Creek Bridge. The roadway will be CLOSED from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Motorists will need to seek an alternate route during the closure.
Cooper County
I-70 - Median work for new pavement construction continues from Missouri Route 5 in Boonville (mile marker 101) to the Missouri River Bridge at Rocheport (mile marker 115) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent overnight lane closures in both directions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. with an 11-foot width restriction. This portion of the Improve I-70 Program has an overall completion date in 2027. **
Crawford County
Missouri Route 19 - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 from Route TT (Dent County) to Route VV, March 23-26. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
North Outer Road 44 (Frontage Road) - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 at Landon Road in St. Cloud. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place.
Route N - Roadside work planned March 23-26 at Whites Creek, west of Anthonies Mill. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place.
Route Y - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 from Route V to Missouri Route 49 (Iron County). One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Dent County
Route 19 - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 from Route TT to Route VV (Crawford County) March 23-26. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Routes EE, FF, and W - Pothole patching planned March 25-26. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route B - CLOSED at the bridge over Dry Creek due to inspectors finding a sinkhole developing near one of the supporting structures. Motorists may use Missouri Routes 19, 32 and 72 as detoured routes around the closure. A project to replace the bridge is scheduled to be completed this year.
Howard County
Route 124 - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 from Route A to Route Y. All lanes will be CLOSED from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Route E - Pothole patching planned March 23-26 from Route 5 to Missouri Route 87. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route H - Bridge maintenance planned March 23-26 over Salt Fork. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route U - Roadside work planned March 23-26. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zones.
Route Y - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Laclede County
I-44 - Concrete replacement planned March 23, eastbound only, from mile marker 118 to 119 near Phillipsburg. The right-hand (driving lane) will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this work, both the eastbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 118 will be CLOSED and motorists will need to use an alternate route.
Route 32 - Sealing operations planned March 24 from just west of I-44 to County Line Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
I-44 - Bridge inspection planned at the Gasconade River Bridge near mile marker 143. One eastbound lane will close March 25, and one westbound lane will close March 26 to allow crews to stage equipment and safely conduct a routine bridge inspection.
Maries County
Missouri Route 42 - CLOSED for a bridge deck replacement project over the Maries River. A signed detour is in place to direct motorist around the closure. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2026. (The Fly Creek Bridge on Route 42 will close soon after the Maries River Bridge reopens. The Fly Creek Bridge will remain closed through August 2026.)
Miller County
Route H - Culvert replacement planned March 23-24 from Missouri Route 17 to Klindt Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route U - Culvert replacement planned March 24-26 from Route E to Route 42. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Moniteau County
U.S. Route 50 - Brush cutting planned March 23-26 from Flag Spring Road to the Cole County line.
Route 179 - Shoulder work planned March 23-26 from Boxwood Drive to Bacon Bridge Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Morgan County
Missouri Routes 52 and 5 intersection - Striping planned March 23-27. Motorists should remain alert for slow-moving striping equipment and wet paint.
P helps County
Route T - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 from Route P to County Road 7490. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route Z - Pothole patching planned March 23-26 from Missouri Route 28 (Pulaski County) to Route J. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route BB - Culvert replacement planned March 23-27 from Forum Drive to Country Club Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route O - Culvert replacement planned March 23-27 from Route 72 to the Dent County line. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 72 - Pedestrian facility upgrades continue in Rolla. Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2026.
Business Loop 44/Route 72/Kingshighway - A bridge rehabilitation project over I-44 is scheduled to begin March 23. One eastbound lane will remain open.The bridge will CLOSE to all westbound traffic and a signed detour will be in place. The project is scheduled for completion in July 2026.
County Road 8490 (Sugar Creek Road) - CLOSED for bridge rehabilitation over I-44. The on- and off-ramps at this overpass (Exit 176) will remain open and a signed detour will be in place. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2026.
Pulaski County
Missouri Route 7 - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 at Rochester Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route T - Culvert replacement planned March 23-26 in Swedeborg at Apple Street. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route Z - Pothole patching planned March 23-26 from Route 28 to Route J (Phelps County). One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 17 - Pedestrian facility upgrades continue in Waynesville from Summit Avenue to Lynn Street. Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2026.
I-44 - A pavement widening project from just east of Exit 156 in Waynesville to Exit 159 in St. Robert is underway. Motorists can expect intermittent nighttime lane closures in both directions. The project has an overall completion date in 2027.
Washington County
Missouri Route 8 - Shoulder work planned March 23-26 at from Missouri Route 185 to Ridgeway Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 47 - Bridge painting planned March 23-27 at the bridge over Mill Creek. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 8 - Bridge rehabilitation over the Union Pacific Railroad. The roadway will remain open throughout the project but is narrowed to one lane. Motorists should expect delays. The project is scheduled for complete in May 2026.
Route T - Culvert rehabilitation at Big Indian Creek near Potosi planned to begin March 23. Minimal traffic impacts are expected during the project which is expected to be completed by July 1, 2026.
