Las Vegas City Council To Recognize Youth Posthumously

Family Lost Son To Cancer And Now Works To Bring Expanded Medical Care

The Las Vegas City Council will recognize Tyler Ballew posthumously at the May 7, 2025, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, located at 495 S. Main St.

Ballew passed away in 2022 after a two-year battle with cancer that included many out-of-town trips for treatment. The Ballew family has since been working to bring more care options to Las Vegas for children. Mayor Pro Tem Brian Knudsen will remember Tyler and present his family a Citizen of the Month Award in his honor.

In addition, Ward 5 Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong is scheduled to recognize a true community success story in the Obodo Collective. Fresh produce is blooming on the Historic Westside thanks to the Obodo Collective Urban Farm and store.

The meeting will be broadcast live on City of Las Vegas TV.
