City of Alexandria Snow and Ice Removal Work Nears Completion

The National Weather Service Winter Weather Advisory for Alexandria expired at 10:00 a.m. today as higher temperatures combined with windy conditions accelerated drying and melting. As of Monday evening, City crews have cleared all primary, secondary, and residential streets in Alexandria. Additionally, the clearing of all Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) buildings, bus stops, City facilities, and adjacent sidewalks is completed.

However, overnight lows in the mid-20s may result in icy patches on untreated or shaded surfaces. Residents should use caution on exposed roadways, bridges, waterfront areas, and sidewalks later today and tonight. Make sure to watch for lingering wet spots and treat sidewalks and driveways as needed.

City crews will continue treatment to address overnight conditions and ensure roadways, schools, bus stops, metro areas and facilities remain clear. Teams will transition to clearing trails and additional sidewalk segments tomorrow, and this work is expected to be completed by tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation over the weekend.
