Ushers Ferry Historic Village Opens for the 2026 Season June 1

Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation invites the community to step back in time when Ushers Ferry Historic Village opens for the 2026 season Monday, June 1.

Located on a 10-acre site in scenic Seminole Valley, Ushers Ferry Historic Village offers visitors a glimpse into life in a small Iowa town between 1890 and 1910. The Village features nine (9) ADA-accessible historic buildings, including homes, businesses, and community gathering spaces that help bring local history to life.

During the summer season, visitors can explore the Village at their own pace Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and veterans, $2 for youth, and free for children ages 5 and younger.

Ushers Ferry serves as a destination for family-friendly activities, educational programs, special events, and community gatherings throughout the year. In addition to self-guided visits, the Village offers guided group tours by appointment, school programs, and a variety of recreation opportunities that connect visitors with local history.

"Ushers Ferry provides a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to experience history in a hands-on way," said Parks & Recreation Director Carrie Mardorf. "Whether you're exploring the historic buildings, attending a special event, or participating in one of our educational programs, the Village offers something for all ages."

The site also serves as a popular venue for weddings, reunions, corporate events, and other special occasions, with the Ushers Ferry Lodge, gazebo, grounds, and historic buildings available for rental.
