USC GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN INSTITUTE HONORS PORT OF LOS ANGELES, GENE SEROKA WITH LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE AWARD

Aug. 14, 2026 - The University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute today recognized the Port of Los Angeles and Port Executive Director Gene Seroka with its Global Supply Chain Leadership Excellence Award for work navigating volatility, uncertainty and disruption across the supply chain.

"This award recognizes Gene Seroka and the Port of Los Angeles for transformational leadership in global supply chain strategy and execution," said Nick Vyas, Founding Executive Director and Academic Director of the USC Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute. "Their sustained efforts have strengthened performance, resilience, and coordination across one of the world's most complex trade gateways."

The award reflects the Port's leadership through a period of unprecedented global supply chain disruption, including efforts to strengthen coordination among supply chain partners and expanding the use of data and digital tools to improve cargo visibility, efficiency and resilience.

"This recognition belongs to the extraordinary people who keep cargo moving through the Port of Los Angeles every day," said Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka. "Our success depends on collaboration across the supply chain - our waterfront workforce, terminal operators, railroads, truckers and many other partners. We are grateful to USC for this honor and proud of what we've accomplished together."

Also in attendance were Los Angeles Harbor Commissioner Lee Williams and Port Deputy Executive Directors Dina Aryan-Zahlan (Development) and David Libatique (Stakeholder Engagement).

The USC Marshall School of Business Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute focuses on predicting and managing supply chain risks. By leveraging its global network, industry expertise and faculty through a framework of network, education and advanced research, the organization develops resilient, data-driven global leaders focused on agility and sustainability.

The USC Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit is an annual event that features keynotes, panel discussions, and networking focused on AI, logistics and global network resilience.

The Port and Seroka have supported this event for more than a decade. Seroka served as Chairman of the Executive Committee Board for the USC Global Supply Chain Institute from 2024-2025.
