Fredericksburg, Texas - The City of Fredericksburg's Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with the Gillespie County Historical Society's Pioneer Museum to create a new event: the Founders Day Maibaum Art Contest. This event is open to all ages and welcomes original artwork in any medium.
Entries can be dropped off at City Hall Annex #1, 115 N. Crockett Street, on April 29, 30, or May 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Digital works of art can be submitted to specialevents@fbgtx.org and will be displayed on a large format screen for public voting. Entries must not exceed 2' tall x 2' wide, 2' deep, and must be able to be displayed on a table or digitally. There is no fee to enter, and each person is limited to one entry.
Artwork will be displayed on Friday, May 2, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., and on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the John Wm. Klein Room at Marktplatz. Voting is open to all ages, with one vote per person.
Age categories for the contest are as follows: under 3, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-17, and 18+. Winners will be announced on May 8, 2025, during Fredericksburg Founders Day. All artwork will be returned to entrants, and prizes will be awarded in each age category.
