The City of West Hollywood is informing community members that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) will begin roadway restoration work at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Holloway Drive beginning Monday, October 19, 2026. Work is anticipated to continue through Thursday, November 12, 2026. LADWP's contractor will conduct a series of roadway restoration activities, including replacement of bus pads and asphalt paving. The work is the permanent roadway-restoration phase following the major LADWP water main break that occurred at Sunset Boulevard and Holloway Drive in July 2026. At that time, temporary paving was installed to allow the roadway to reopen, with permanent street paving and restoration planned for a later date.
The upcoming LADWP work will take place in several phases and will require lane closures, traffic shifts, and turning restrictions at and near the Sunset Boulevard/Holloway Drive intersection. At least one lane of travel will remain open in each direction throughout all phases. Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time and, when possible, use alternate routes.
The tentative LADWP work schedule is as follows:
During most phases of the work, cross-street movements through the Sunset Boulevard/Holloway Drive intersection will be restricted. This will include restrictions on the movement from westbound Holloway Drive to westbound Sunset Boulevard. These intersection restrictions are not anticipated during the eastbound bus pad replacement work scheduled for October 25 through November 2.
The LADWP work schedule is tentative and may change based on field conditions or other construction-related factors. Traffic-control signage and devices will be in place to direct motorists through the area.
Residents, businesses, visitors, and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and use alternate routes when possible. Drivers are also urged to slow down and follow posted traffic-control signage when traveling through the construction area.
The City of West Hollywood continues to coordinate with LADWP regarding restoration associated with the July 2026 water main break. Updates about restoration work will be posted on the City's Water Main Break webpage at www.weho.org/watermainbreak.
