Free community event at Chrysler Hall spotlights generational mental health, support and resilience.
NORFOLK, Va. - In support of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, Norfolk Community Services Board has partnered with Project ORF to bring the community together for an evening of connection, healing and support with the 2nd Annual Surviving Through Mental Health on Thursday, July 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chrysler Hall.
This year's event theme is Family Matters, which brings a focus on how mental health stressors and triggers can show up across generations, and how to collaborate as a community to bring healing, resilience, support and understanding.
Surviving Through Mental Health will be hosted by Tone Hollywood from 100.5 The Vibe and features panel discussions with mental health experts, activists and survivors. Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Ph.D., will deliver opening remarks. Additionally, dozens of community mental health and wellness partners will be in attendance with outreach and information opportunities.
There will also be prizes, raffles, food and refreshments (first-come, first serve), music, giveaways and more!
Individuals, families and friends of all ages are welcome to attend and participate, especially teens and young adults. Surviving Through Mental Health is a free event and registration is preferred but not required.
