GENEVA (ILO News) - Sheng Li has been appointed Deputy Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
As Deputy Director-General, Li will head the policy cluster, supporting a coherent strategic direction across normative functions and policy development. He will guide and oversee the work of five policy departments as well as the ILO's priority action programmes.
Li joins the ILO from the U.S. Department of Labor, where he serves as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy. Prior to his government service, he worked as a litigator in private practice, focusing on administrative and constitutional law.
A United States national, Li holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. He also has experience in international relations and policy development.
