Bureau of Reclamation to open Delta Cross Channel Gates for Memorial Day Weekend

SACRAMENTO, Calif - The Bureau of Reclamation will open the Delta Cross Channel Gates for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend to improve recreational boating access in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

The gates are scheduled to open on Friday, May 22 at 10 a.m. and will remain open through Tuesday, May 26, at 10 a.m.

The temporary opening will provide enhanced access for boaters traveling between the Sacramento River and the central Delta during the busy holiday weekend. Following the holiday period, the gates will return to normal operations and close on Tuesday morning.

Reclamation coordinates gate operations with resource agencies to balance water quality, fishery protection, flood control, and recreational opportunities throughout the Delta.

Boaters are encouraged to use caution while navigating the area and remain aware of changing water conditions and vessel traffic during the holiday weekend.
