American Airlines celebrated the launch of daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Cap-Haitien, Haiti (CAP), restoring the airline's presence in Haiti and marking a historic milestone in the airline's centennial year as the 100th destination served in its Caribbean and Latin America network. The added connection further strengthens the role and connectivity of American's MIA hub, serving as the global gateway to the region.
As we celebrate American's centennial year, reaching a milestone of 100 destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America highlights both our rich history and our unmatched footprint in the region. The continued growth of our network in the region - including being the first airline to return to Venezuela earlier this year - is a reflection of the legacy we've built and one we're proud to carry forward as we continue growing our network across the region.
The new route operates daily with American's Boeing 737 aircraft, offering customers convenient access between Miami and Haiti with more than 90 connections across the United States through the airline's MIA hub. The historic inaugural flight was operated by an all-Haitian, Creole-speaking flight crew led by Captain Oliver Jean, reflecting American's long-standing connection to Haiti and its commitment to delivering a welcoming travel experience for customers.
MIA is American's most internationally connected hub and the world's leading gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America, operating more than 410 peak daily flights to more than 170 destinations across 46 countries.
The connection between the United States and Haiti is incredibly meaningful, which is especially true in South Florida. We know the critical role air service plays in linking countries and communities, so we're beyond proud to reinstate such a consequential connection for so many. We'll also have our largest-ever schedule out of our Miami hub this winter, and there's no better way to continue our commitment to South Florida than by resuming our Haiti service.
The new service to Haiti adds to American's ongoing momentum at its MIA hub.
Preparing for growth: Plans are underway for a reimagined Concourse D that will deliver more gates, enhance international operations and elevate the customer experience - building on American's nearly 40-year of history in Miami.
Expanding premium offerings: New, improved, and expanded premium offerings are coming to MIA with an all-new Flagship® lounge and major expansion of the Admirals Club® lounge at D30.
Winter is coming: American continues to expand options for Miami travelers with its largest-ever winter schedule with increased service on key routes this winter, including service to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU); St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (STT); Antigua (ANU); Tortola, British Virgin Islands (EIS); Exuma, Bahamas (GGT); St. Kitts (SKB); and Rio de Janeiro (GIG).
Connection to Venezuela: Earlier this year, American became the first to reconnect Venezuela and the United States in seven years with nonstop service between MIA and Caracas (CCS). Since then, American has launched nonstop flights from MIA to Maracaibo (MAR) and announced the airline's first-ever service to Barcelona, Venezuela (BLA), starting Jan. 15, 2027.
Commitment to community: American continues to invest in the South Florida community with its most recently announced partnership with Inter Miami CF, as well as its extended partnership with the Miami HEAT - taking customer and fan experiences to new heights.
Miami International Airport, America's busiest airport for international freight and the second-busiest for international passengers, is receiving an unprecedented $14 billion investment in capital improvements and maintenance upgrades. MIA offers more flights to Latin America and the Caribbean than any other U.S. airport and is also the leading economic engine for Miami-Dade County and the state of Florida, generating $212 billion in business revenue and approximately 60 percent of all international visitors to Florida annually.
