Scott County Woman Pleads Guilty to Insurance Fraud

Des Moines, Iowa - Miyisha McNealy, age 43, of Davenport, pled guilty on October 24, 2024, to one count Presenting False Information, a class "D" Felony, following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division's Fraud Bureau.

The investigation began in February 2024, following the receipt of information by the Iowa Insurance Division's Fraud Bureau suggesting that McNealy had submitted false information to an insurer.

The investigation found that McNealy knowingly misrepresented material facts to receive insurance benefits to which she was not entitled. McNealy reported that her vehicle sustained damage from a hailstorm in December 2023. However, weather reports confirmed no hailstorms occurred on the reported date of loss, and documentation from both the insurance company and the dealership where she purchased the vehicle indicated the hail damage existed prior to the reported date of loss. McNealy was arrested on July 9, 2024.

Following her guilty plea, McNealy received a five year suspended prison sentence and placed on supervised probation for a period of five years. McNealy was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,025.
