The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Tradewill meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 14 October, with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland, Her Excellency Larysa Gerasko, to provide an update on the current situation in Ukraine.
Ahead of the meeting at 3pm m in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John Lahart said: "The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with Her Excellency Larysa Gerasko, our first engagement with the Ambassador since this Committee was formed in May. Since Russia's illegal and immoral invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Ms Gerasko has regularly briefed TDs and Senators on her country's fight for survival and desire to for peace and an end to occupation by Russian forces.
"The Committee looks forward to hearing a comprehensive update on the current situation in Ukraine, including the ongoing Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, attempts to broker an end to the war involving the European Union and the United States, progress on Ukraine's application to join the EU, and related matters."
The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
