The President of the National Assembly, Mihaela Dotsova, met with members of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), including the Bulgarian representative in the audit institution, Iliyana Ivanova.
The President of Parliament said that our country is currently at the stage of adopting a state budget. She noted that transparency, proper and effective spending of Bulgarian funds and those from the European Union are of great importance to the public.

The President of the National Assembly noted that the European Court of Auditors is an independent and professional body and its work is important for achieving more publicity, transparency and end results that benefit the societies of all EU member states.

Mihaela Dotsova expressed the opinion that Bulgaria has managed to gain administrative experience and capacity in spending European funds and is committed to completing the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. This experience will be used in the negotiations for the next Multiannual Financial Framework, she said. According to her, the opinions and reports of the European Court of Auditors on the European Commission's proposals for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) contain valuable analysis and recommendations.

The National Assembly takes the commitments made under the Recovery and Resilience Plan extremely responsibly, and one of the first bills voted on by the 52nd National Assembly was related to reforms under the plan, Mihaela Dotsova said.

A multiannual financial framework should reflect the EU's strategic priorities, while maintaining an appropriate balance between existing and new policies and ensuring a fair, transparent and sustainable system for financing the EU budget, the Parliament President pointed out. She noted the importance of the Cohesion Policy and the proposal for a European Fund for economic, social and territorial cohesion, agriculture and rural, fisheries and maritime, prosperity and security.

Iliyana Ivanova emphasized that she hopes the work of the European Court of Auditors will help facilitate important decisions. She noted that the idea of the meeting was to present the work of the European Court of Auditors on the new proposal for the next multiannual European budget. Ivanova noted that this is one of the most important moments in the negotiations to determine the main priorities. We have prepared 12 opinions on the various specific proposals, including those in the field of agriculture, which is the largest spending policy, and the general proposal for the so-called single fund, Iliyana Ivanova added.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice-President of the National Assembly Ivan Angelov, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy Petar Vitanov, and the members of the European Court of Auditors Alejandro Blanco Fernandez and Ivana Maletic.
