U.S. Rep. Kelly Morrison Calls on House to Stay in DC Until Health Care Catastrophe is Addressed

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Representative Kelly Morrison (MN-03) is calling on Speaker Mike Johnson to not send lawmakers home until the health care catastrophe is addressed.

Right now, Speaker Johnson is scheduled to send lawmakers home for the holidays this Friday, December 17, 2025.

But today, the House of Representatives reached the critical threshold of 218 signatures needed to force a vote on an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits for working families that are set to expire December 31, 2025. The effort has bipartisan support, with all 214 Democrats and 4 Republicans calling for a vote to stop health insurance premiums from skyrocketing for tens of millions of Americans.

Speaker Mike Johnson should not send lawmakers home until the health care catastrophe is addressed.

Right now, there is a bipartisan majority of members in the House of Representatives who want to vote to extend the ACA tax credits and stop millions of Americans' health insurance premiums from skyrocketing in less than two weeks.

Right now, Speaker Johnson plans to send lawmakers home for the holidays this Friday for three weeks, but we should not go home without fixing this crisis.

We cannot and should not leave DC until we take a vote and pass this legislation.

Americans should not have to spend the holidays worrying about whether they will be able to afford health insurance for themselves or their families while Speaker Johnson keeps lawmakers out on vacation.

We have a fix. We have a solution. Not acting on it is unconscionable - and a dereliction of duty.

Speaker Johnson, call the vote.
