Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Graphite One (Alaska) Inc.

PROJECT NAME: LAS 34053

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The proposed areas extend from the Nome-Taylor Highway to south of the Imuruk Basin near Nome.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Sections 6, 7, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, and 24 of Township 7 South, Range 33 West, Kateel River Meridian

Section 1, Township 7 South, Range 34 West, Kateel River Meridian

Sections 1, 2, 11, 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25, 26, 35, and 36 of Township 6 South, Range 34 West, Kateel River Meridian

Sections 23, 24, 25, 26, 35, and 36 of Township 5 South, Range 34 West, Kateel River Meridian

Additional Site Location: Section 27 of Township 7 South, Range 32 West, Kateel River Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW) has received a permit reissuance application from Graphite One for the permit under LAS 34053 which authorized the cross country travel of a 6,000 lb drill rig as well as drilling up to 100 feet for the purposes of gathering geotechnical data. The drill rig was primarily transported from site to site via a helicopter with the drill rig being driven short distances to neighboring drill sites. The applicant has requested to conduct this activity again with an additional location and a slightly larger drill rig weighing approximately 6,600 lbs.

REQUESTED TERM: One year

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: March 24, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
