students for winning state Consumer Bowl

FREEHOLD, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners congratulates Marlboro High School's Consumer Bowl team for winning the 2025 New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs Consumer Bowl and honored them during the Commissioners' Workshop Meeting on June 26.

"On behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners, I want to congratulate Marlboro High School's Consumer Bowl Team on winning the 2025 New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs High School Consumer Bowl," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. "Following their state championship win in 2024, Marlboro continued its outstanding success with another well-deserved victory in 2025. Congratulations to the team on this remarkable achievement!"

The New Jersey State Finals were held in May at the Richard J. Hughes Justice Complex in Trenton. Earlier this year, Marlboro won the Monmouth County and Central Region Consumer Bowl competitions. At the state finals, Marlboro defeated the Northern Region winner, Passaic County Technical Institute, and the Southern Region winner, Gloucester City High School.

"The annual Consumer Bowl, organized by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, draws participation from more than 70 high schools and nearly every county across the state," said Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs. "Over the course of three levels of competition, students answered a variety of questions related to the Consumer Fraud Act on topics such as home improvement contractors, gift cards, cryptocurrency, identity theft, internet issues, and amusement games. This championship reflects the dedication and hard work of the team, and I wish them continued success in their future endeavors."

The members of the state champion Marlboro Consumer Bowl team are Summer Adler (captain), David Tabak, Chase Sussman, Kayla Newman and Sara Kachhia-Patel, and alternate Valerie Mylnarsky. The team's advisors are Patrick Scinto and Nicole Bendik. Marlboro High School's principal is David Bleakley.

The Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs has five investigators who actively assist residents with consumer issues. The division's staff has the resources and the authority to investigate complaints about billing, gift cards, home repair, car sales and repairs, scams and much more. The Division annually investigates more than 600 complaints and attempts to mediate solutions.
