Governor Polis Celebrates Over 2 Million Registered Users on myColorado®, State’s Official Identification Platform

DENVER, June 11, 2026 - Today, Governor Polis and his Office of Information Technology (OIT) announced that myColorado®, the state's official identification platform, has officially surpassed 2 million registered users.

This major milestone underscores the state's ongoing commitment to delivering modern digital government services directly into Coloradans' hands. With more than 40 percent of the state's adult population registered, the app transforms how residents interact with state agencies, local businesses and law enforcement. This innovative app has improved services, made it easier for Coloradans to access their identification, and will be adding new and exciting features to myColorado soon.

"Throughout my time as Governor, I'm laser focused on delivering cutting edge government services better and more efficiently. Our successful launch of our online identification with myColorado app has now passed two million users," said Governor Jared Polis. "Reaching 2 million users on myColorado proves that when you build best-in-class digital tools, people use them. By creating this powerful app for everything from state IDs to DMV and outdoor services, we are saving Coloradans valuable time and money, reducing our physical footprint, and making life more convenient."

Driving Trust and Security with Latest App Features

The growth to two million users has been accelerated by steady enhancements aimed at improving security, fraud prevention and local exploration. Key features and recently added functionalities include:

  • The Colorado Passport Program: Launched in collaboration with the America 250 - Colorado 150 Commission and the Colorado Tourism Office, this new interactive platform lets users discover hidden gems, scenic byways, and local businesses across the state while unlocking exclusive digital rewards.
  • The Colorado Digital ID™ Verifier: Launched as the state's recommended method for digital credential checks, this feature allows businesses, government agencies, and other verifying parties to instantly confirm the authenticity of a Colorado Digital ID™. ID holders simply present a secure, dynamic QR code from their app, and the verifier scans it using their own myColorado app-whether signed in or not-safeguarding against counterfeit IDs and fraud.
  • Enhanced "Live View" Security: To combat illegal duplication, the Digital ID interface uses an active "Live View" security framework with a pulsating green dot indicator, a real-time timestamp that updates every second, and a floating Columbine flower hologram that shifts as the user tilts their phone.
  • Privacy-First Controls: Built-in data minimization features allow users to hide non-essential details, like a home address or exact birthdate, when showing their Digital ID for age-restricted purchases or entry, sharing only their legal name and confirmation status.

"Surpassing two million users is a phenomenal achievement that demonstrates Coloradans want and need secure, user-centered digital services that meet them where they are," said State Chief Information Officer Sarah Tuneberg. "Our goal has always been to simplify how people interact with state government, and we are continually building new features to ensure myColorado remains an indispensable tool for all Coloradans."

A Growing Universal Wallet

Beyond its signature Colorado Digital ID, the myColorado app serves as a comprehensive digital wallet. Coloradans can securely store vehicle registrations and auto insurance cards, view and present Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) digital fishing and hunting licenses, look up hyper-local state sales tax rates, and seamlessly link to online DMV services, state job listings and the Colorado PEAK benefits system.
The myColorado app is available for download on iOS devices through the Apple App Store and on Android devices via Google Play. To create a secure account, myColorado users must possess a valid Colorado driver's license or state-issued ID card.
