Irvine, CA - In honor of Veterans Day, Representative Dave Min (CA-47) hosted a roundtable discussion with veterans at Irvine Valley College, listening to their concerns and stories, and sharing how he's fighting to support veterans and their families in Congress. Rep. Min spent over an hour hearing from veterans and answering questions related to a broad array of issues, ranging from the high cost of living in Orange County to the particular needs of veterans during the government shutdown.

On Standing Up for Veterans:

"As far as what it means to me to serve those who have served, it's honoring our promises. And it's not just the ones that are stated, it's the ones that are implicit. So when you enter the military, you do that because you believe that we're going to take care of you. If you get injured on the job, if you get injured serving our country, if you die, then we should take care of you. We should take care of your loved ones. When you come back, we have an obligation to not let you fall through the cracks."

On the Importance of Service:

"I often say, being Korean American, my parents always told me stories. They grew up as young kids during the Korean War, the aftermath of that, and if not for the sacrifices of the 36,000 American troops who died far away from home for these values we talked about, like, freedom and democracy, I wouldn't be here. My parents never would've had the opportunities they had."
