May 9, 2025

Until May 15, Hayward residents can participate in America's largest funded pet adoption event - the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters program - with reduced fees on dog and cat adoptions at Hayward Animal Services' shelter at 16 Barnes Court, Hayward.

For this limited time, community members can adopt qualifying dogs and cats for $50, plus a $17 pet license fee for residents of the City of Hayward. You can visit the shelter during normal business hours - Tuesday through Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. - and view adoptable animals at hayward Animal Services' website here.

The Bissell Pet Foundation reimburses animal shelters nationwide for each animal adopted during the event, which allows shelters to reduce fees and give pets more chances to find their forever family. For more on the national event, visit the Bissell Foundation's Empty the Shelters webpage here.
