San Rafael-San Anselmo Fuel Reduction Zone Update

The San Rafael Fire Department is pleased to announce that Units 16 and 18 of the San Rafael-San Anselmo Fuel Reduction Zone (SRSAFRZ) project have been successfully completed for Phase 1 eucalyptus and invasive species thinning and removal. This is a significant milestone in our ongoing effort to reduce wildfire risk between the communities of San Rafael and San Anselmo.

Work continues this year as crews return to previously treated areas to manage eucalyptus resprouts and broom regrowth which is a critical and ongoing part of the fuel reduction process. Keeping these areas maintained ensures that the hard work already invested in the project continues to provide lasting wildfire protection for our community.
