USDA Announces Availability of Emergency Low-Interest Physical Loss Loans for Producers Affected by Natural Disasters

Emergency physical loss loans through the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.

Impacted Area: Nebraska and South Dakota

Triggering Disaster: Wildfires that occurred on March 12, 2026, and continuing

Application Deadline: Nov. 23, 2026

Primary Counties Eligible:

• Nebraska: Arthur, Blaine, Cherry, Dawson, Garden, Keith, Lincoln, Morrill, Thomas

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:

• Nebraska: Banner, Box Butte, Brown, Buffalo, Cheyenne, Custer, Deuel, Frontier, Gosper, Grant, Hayes, Hooker, Keya Paha, Logan, Loup, McPherson, Perkins, Phelps, Scotts Bluff, Sheridan

• South Dakota: Bennett, Oglala Lakota, Todd, Tripp
