Muskies Rally for Student-Athletes

The result was an impressive show of support.

On September 8,586 donors contributed $134,923.10 during Muskingum's 2026 Athletic Day of Giving, providing resources that will enhance the experiences of student-athletes across the University's 19 Fighting Muskies teams.

Those gifts will make an impact in ways both large and small. They help teams travel and compete, provide meals and lodging on the road, purchase equipment and gear, enhance team spaces, and create experiences that strengthen the bonds among teammates.

For some student-athletes, donor support can even open the door to experiences well beyond campus.

Muskingum Volleyball, for example, is raising funds toward a team trip in 2028 that will give student-athletes the opportunity to travel to Italy in 2028, experience a different culture, and create memories together that will last long after their time at Muskingum. The program is also working toward upgrades to its locker space, creating a place that feels like home while strengthening the everyday student-athlete experience.

The support comes as Muskingum student-athletes continue to demonstrate what it means to be a Muskie. They balance academics with practices, training, and competition while also serving their communities and representing the University.

Muskingum Baseball offers one example. The team earned a spot in the 2026 OAC Tournament for the first time in 16 years while maintaining one of the highest GPAs among Muskingum's men's athletic programs during the past two years. Team members also contributed more than 600 hours of community service.

Similar stories are unfolding across Muskingum Athletics. Student-athletes are reaching new milestones, building stronger programs, succeeding in the classroom and serving others-all while developing relationships and memories that will remain long after their final competition.

Behind those experiences is a Muskingum community willing to show up for them.

This year, that meant 586 alumni, families, friends, fans, and supporters choosing to make a gift on Athletic Day of Giving. Others shared the message, encouraged friends to participate, and helped build momentum throughout the day.

Together, they raised more than $134,000 to invest directly in Muskingum student-athletes and the programs that help shape their college experience.
