Joint BSEC pavilion brings together key regional organisations, highlighting cooperation, connectivity and new opportunities for sustainable growth, with Japan as Country of Honour
The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) is participating in the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), taking place from 5 to 13 September 2026, as part of a joint pavilion initiated under the Hellenic Chairmanship of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
The joint pavilion brings together the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat (BSEC PERMIS), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS), the BSEC Business Council and BSTDB, showcasing the shared commitment of BSEC-related institutions to strengthening regional cooperation, economic connectivity and sustainable development across the wider Black Sea region.
This year's 90th edition of TIF is particularly significant, with Japan participating as Country of Honour, placing a strong emphasis on innovation, technology, investment and international economic cooperation. For BSTDB, Japan's participation provides an opportunity to highlight the growing links between Japan and the Black Sea region and the role that international partnerships can play in supporting investment and development.
An important example is the Bank's cooperation with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) supporting projects contributing to Ukraine's reconstruction and economic resilience, while also financing climate-change mitigation projects, including renewable energy initiatives, in BSTDB member countries.
The cooperation between BSTDB and JBIC illustrates the importance of partnerships between international financial institutions in mobilising resources and expertise for strategic investments and addressing common regional challenges.
"The Thessaloniki International Fair is a unique platform for bringing together businesses, institutions and international partners and for highlighting the opportunities offered by stronger regional and international cooperation," said Dr. Serhat Kőksal, President of BSTDB. "We are particularly pleased to participate in this year's Fair as part of the joint pavilion under the Hellenic Chairmanship of BSEC, alongside key BSEC-related institutions. Japan's presence as Country of Honour further reinforces the importance of building bridges between regions and economies. Our cooperation with JBIC is a tangible example of how international partnerships can mobilise financing and expertise for sustainable development, resilience and investment across the Black Sea region."
As an international financial institution headquartered in Thessaloniki, BSTDB places particular importance on the city's role as a gateway between Southeast Europe, the Black Sea region and international markets. Its participation in TIF reflects the Bank's commitment to strengthening the visibility of the Black Sea region and promoting opportunities for investment, trade and economic cooperation.
The joint pavilion provides a platform for visitors, businesses and institutional partners to learn more about the work of the BSEC family institutions and their contribution to regional cooperation. It also offers an opportunity to exchange views on current challenges and explore avenues for closer collaboration.
BSTDB will continue to work with BSEC institutions, international financial institutions and other development partners to support economic resilience, sustainable infrastructure, the green transition, trade and private-sector development across its member countries.
