ALIC @ Bessemer Expanding Educational Access, Fostering Regional Partnerships, & Supporting innovation

Byron Rich, Executive Director of the Allegheny Lab for Innovation & Creativity, recently appeared on The WPSE Podcast to discuss how Allegheny College's ALIC @ Bessemer branch campus is bridging the gap between higher education and manufacturing industry workforce development.

The podcast is co-produced by the Corry Higher Education Council, which coordinates broad education and workforce training opportunities in Corry, Pennsylvania. Executive Director Matthew Platz hosted the conversation.

"We're trying to create on-ramps that really lead to longer-term prosperity and wealth building for individuals within our community rather than focusing on traditional degree programs," Rich said. "We already do that really, really well at Allegheny College, but that system just doesn't necessarily work for all individuals - especially for those individuals that need a much faster return on their time investment and financial investment that they might be making in terms of pursuing and finding that family-sustaining role."
