Rep. Sykes Presents $725,000 Ceremonial Check for Silver Lake Water Main Improvement Project

SILVER LAKE, OHIO - Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) presented a $725,223 ceremonial check to the Village of Silver Lake for its Water Main Improvement Project.

"Reliable access to clean water is essential for every family and every community," said Rep. Sykes. "This investment in Silver Lake's water infrastructure will help prevent service disruptions, improve water pressure for emergency response, and ensure residents have safer and more dependable water access. I was proud to secure this funding and will continue working to bring federal resources home to strengthen our communities and improve quality of life across Ohio's 13th Congressional District."

"We are grateful to Rep. Emilia Sykes for her leadership and partnership in helping secure this critical federal grant for Silver Lake's water main project. This investment will significantly improve water quality, ensure reliable delivery, and enhance safety for our residents. We especially appreciate Rep. Syke's partnership, her commitment to her constituents, and her willingness to look beyond surface issues to address the less visible, but very real, challenges facing our community. Her support will have a lasting impact, and we are truly thankful for her dedication and leadership," said Mayor Therese Dunphy, Village of Silver Lake.

The project will install a new water main to connect two previously isolated residential systems. Currently, if there is a break in the water line or if there is a loss in pressure, every house down the line could experience a complete loss of water access until repairs can be made, which can sometimes take days. The installation of a new water main will help prevent these gaps in service, improve firefighting water pressure, and increase water quality for residents.

The $725,223 for the Silver Lake Water Main Improvement Project is one of 15 Community Funding Projects totaling more than $12 million Rep. Sykes secured in the Fiscal Year 2026 federal budget. The other projects included in this funding can be found here.
