NV Energy Cancels PSOM Watch for Several Northern Nevada Locations; Watch Remains in Effect for Four Zones

Improved conditions allow most previously identified PSOM Watch zones to return to normal status

RENO, Nev. - NV Energy has canceled its Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) Watch for several previously identified northern Nevada locations as weather conditions continue to improve and wildfire risk decreases across much of the region.

Based on updated weather forecasts, field observations and fire risk assessments, NV Energy has removed the following areas from PSOM Watch status:

• Incline - Mt. Rose
• Incline - East
• Glenbrook - North
• Glenbrook - South
• Genoa South
• Stateline - Upper Kingsbury
• Heavenly
• Lakeview Carson
• Winnemucca

Four zones remain under PSOM Watch and will continue to be closely monitored throughout the day:

• Glenbrook - East Spooner - approximately 76 customers
• South Carson City - Clear Creek - approximately 9 customers
• South Carson City - Jacks Valley - approximately 53 customers
• Virginia City Highlands - approximately 677 customers

Current weather conditions across northern Nevada continue to trend in a favorable direction. Critical Risk Index values have declined, reducing overall wildfire risk in many areas previously under consideration for a PSOM event.

The combination of increased moisture and the timing of peak winds is helping keep overall fire weather risk below key PSOM thresholds in most zones. Higher-than-normal winds are still expected across parts of northern Nevada and could result in weather-related outages that are unrelated to any PSOM operations.

We recognize that PSOM Watches can create uncertainty and concern, and we do not issue them lightly. Every decision is made with careful consideration of customer impacts and community safety. We appreciate everyone's support of our work to reduce fire risk in your community.

Safety remains NV Energy's highest priority. While conditions have improved, the company will continue monitoring weather forecasts, fuel conditions, field observations and information from fire agencies and emergency response partners. A proactive outage remains possible in the remaining Watch areas if conditions worsen.

Customers in the remaining Watch zones are encouraged to review and activate their personal emergency preparedness plans.
