Annual event will celebrate "One People: A World of Music"

Ithaca College will hold its traditional Commencement Eve Concert on Saturday, May 17, in Glazer Arena of the Athletics and Events Center. A fireworks display will follow the 8:30 p.m. performance, which is free and open to the public.

There is no longer an open public dress rehearsal for the concert held on Friday night. Members of the community are instead invited to attend the Commencement Eve Concert on Saturday.

The theme of this year's concert is "One People: A World of Music," celebrating the universal language of music. It will be directed by Mike Titlebaum, director of Jazz Studies and professor of music performance in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.

The concert will feature the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra, Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Embers Brass Quintet as well as student vocal soloists.

The program will include works by such composers as Meredith Wilson, Duke Ellington, Undine Smith Moore, Jimmy Van Heusen, and Julie Giroux.

Ithaca College's 130th Commencement ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 18, beginning at 10 a.m. in Glazer Arena. Visit ithaca.edu/commencement for more information.
