London / Dubai-Dentons capital markets partner Victoria Wyer has relocated from London to the firm's Dubai office to build on the firm's strong foundation in debt capital markets (DCM) and bolster Dentons' wider finance capabilities in the Middle East.
An experienced DCM specialist, Victoria has been primarily based in London during her career but has a highly varied international practice.
Victoria has deep experience in investment grade and emerging markets, advising underwriters and issuers, including corporates, financial institutions and sovereigns, in connection with various debt capital markets products. These include euro medium-term note (EMTN) and euro commercial paper (ECP) establishments, updates and drawdowns, regulatory capital, green and sustainability-linked bonds, and liability management transactions, including cash tenders, exchange offers, consent solicitations and negative consents.
Victoria's move demonstrates the strength of collaboration between Dentons' London and Dubai English law DCM practices. This enhances Dentons' integrated global client approach and broadens access to the firm's global resources for its Middle East clients, while ensuring the regional expertise and continuity of high-quality service they have come to expect from the firm.
Paul Jarvis, CEO of Dentons UK, Ireland and Middle East said: "Victoria's relocation is the latest signal of Dentons' continued strategic investment in our Middle East capital markets capabilities and our commitment to supporting our regional clients, including major financial institutions and corporate issuers. The specialists we are bringing over align with the areas of demand we see from clients, both those based in the region and international clients with local interests. Debt capital markets is one such area that will benefit from the expertise of a lawyer of Victoria's calibre."
Stephen Knight, Head of the Middle East Banking and Finance practice, said: "We are really pleased to welcome Victoria to our top tier banking team in the region. We have been presented with a unique opportunity to invest and enhance the quality and depth of our offering to clients and we intend to make the most of it. Victoria's relocation follows the appointment of Ahmed Butt in January to offer financial regulatory services to our financial institution and corporate clients. We look forward to making announcements in the coming months of further enhancements to our partner and counsel team across the region."
Victoria Wyer, debt capital markets partner, said: "I am excited to join the excellent Dentons team here in the Middle East. I look forward to working closely with our existing clients to support and help them navigate the evolving DCM landscape in the Middle East and to building new relationships across the region. Further, I am delighted to join a growing team with strong foundations, clear ambition and a commitment to continually enhance client service and delivery."
Dentons has seven offices in the Middle East, based in: Amman; Abu Dhabi; Doha; Dubai; Jeddah; Muscat; and Riyadh.
The firm has had a presence in the region for more than 50 years and an established network of offices that allows it to provide local support to clients backed by international capability and reach.
Victoria's relocation to Dubai follows a move by corporate partner Nik Colbridge who relocated to the office in June this year; the appointment of Ahmed Butt, who joined the office in January as a partner in the Banking and Finance team and the promotion to partner of Faris Shehabi and Hazel Shakur Quinn in Dubai in May.
In addition to lawyers qualified to practice local law, Dentons operates a busy and successful secondment programme for lawyers based in other parts of the firm to visit and work in the Middle East as part of its global offering to clients.
