Ceasefire in the Middle East

The Brazilian government welcomes the announcement, on April 7, of a ceasefire in the context of the armed conflict in the Middle East.

It expresses satisfaction with the prospect of negotiations aimed at establishing a comprehensive peace agreement.

In order to preserve an environment conducive to the reduction of tensions and to avoid further escalation, Brazil calls on the parties to refrain from engaging in military or rhetorical actions.

It further underscores the importance of extending the cessation of hostilities to Lebanon, a country that, as a result of intense Israeli attacks, is facing a severe humanitarian crisis, marked by hundreds of deaths, including civilians, as well as the forced displacement of a significant portion of its population.
