AUC Chairperson received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, this morning received H.E. Mr. Abdullah Hassan Alzahrani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ethiopia & the AU. Amb. Alzahrani was accompanied by Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhy, Candidate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the position of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Chairperson expressed his appreciation for the longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & the Commission & AU Member States.

Ambassador Alzahrani conveyed his appreciation to the Chairperson for the reception and presented Dr. Hanan Balkhy, highlighting her extensive experience & qualifications in the field of global health.

The Chairperson acknowledged Dr. Balkhy's extensive experience & knowledge of global health, including her familiarity with African health priorities & challenges. He noted that this experience could contribute positively to the work of the WHO & wished her every success in her campaign.

The meeting provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on matters of mutual interest, including the importance of continued cooperation between the AU & the @WHO in advancing health priorities across the continent.
