The Hearing Research Group at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) will host more than 200 scientists and students at the Midwest Auditory Research Conference (MARC) June 19-21, 2025, bringing together renowned researchers in hearing health.
According to the National Institutes of Health, approximately 38 million adults in the United States suffer from some degree of hearing loss. The number of Americans with hearing loss continues to grow as the population of the United States ages, and as hearing loss in young people continues to increase.
The MARC has been held biannually since 2005, and is an established forum for researchers to describe and discuss the latest advances in hearing science. Featured speakers are from Harvard Medical School, New York University, University of Texas-Austin and University Hospitals of Cleveland.
The MARC 2025 coincides with the 20th anniversary of the founding of NEOMED's Hearing Research Group, an accomplished group of faculty pursuing improved understanding of hearing and the brain, as well as treatments for disorders such as developmental hearing loss and tinnitus. NEOMED's Hearing Research Group has recently partnered with University Hospitals of Cleveland to improve patient outcomes.
