On May 9, the day of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, ceremonies will be held at Tomsk Polytechnic University.
At 8.50 a.m., a solemn rally will begin near TPU Building no. 2 (43a Lenin Ave.). Employees and students of the University, students of the TPU Military Training Center, representatives of student organizations and university administration will take part therein. All participants meet near the Main Building of the University.
Immediately after the rally, TPU students and employees and Tomsk residents will lay flowers at the Memorial to employees and students who did not return from the Great Patriotic War, participants in battles and home front workers.
At the same time, the St. George Ribbon campaign starts at the Main Building (Lenin Ave., 30). Volunteers will distribute ribbons to everyone.
Students of the TPU Military Training Center will also march as part of the Victory Day Parade in Tomsk on May 9.

Tomsk Polytechnic University contributed to the Victory over Nazi Germany. In 1941, Tomsk Industrial Institute (now TPU) sent 631 mobilized soldiers to the front. They were students, teachers, researchers, workers and employees of the Institute. 60 volunteers were among them. During the war years, over 700 TPU students and employees were drafted to the Soviet Army, 205 of them did not return from the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
