Chicago - Honigman LLP announced today an addition to its Chicago office with David Vallas joining as a partner in the Business Litigation Practice Group and Litigation Department. His arrival comes on the heels of Richard Catalano and Mary Hyde, who joined the Chicago office in December 2024. Most recently, Vallas served as Vice Chair of Polsinelli's Commercial Litigation Practice Group.
Vallas is a trusted litigator and advisor with over two decades of experience, focusing his practice on real estate and commercial matters. He represents key stakeholders across 30 states, including owners, operators, and managers of some of the nation's largest shopping center groups. Vallas supports clients in all facets of their operations across their portfolios-from enforcing commercial leases and addressing daily management challenges to counseling on tenant bankruptcies, regulatory compliance, and ownership transitions.
"With the commercial real estate market expected to bounce back in 2025, businesses will need an experienced litigator who can handle the myriad of complex legal challenges that may arise," said J. Michael Huget, Chair of Honigman's Litigation Department. "David consistently delivers solutions that align not only with his client's strategic objectives, but the evolving demands of today's dynamic market. We're thrilled to bring him on board."
In addition to his work with shopping centers, Vallas represents developers, lenders, REITs, entrepreneurs, and court-appointed receivers in high-stakes cases involving commercial foreclosures, creditor disputes, mechanics' and real estate brokers' liens, and municipal compliance.
Vallas earned a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a B.A. from Williams College.
