Tallahassee State College Leaders Named Finalists for National Awards of Excellence

January 29, 2026

Tallahassee State College proudly announces that two of its distinguished leaders have been named finalists in the 2026 American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Awards of Excellence, the premier national recognition honoring community college leadership, innovation, and impact.

Dr. Jim Murdaugh, President of Tallahassee State College, is a CEO of the Year finalist - one of only five leaders nationwide selected for this prestigious category. This honor recognizes his visionary leadership, commitment to student success, and sustained excellence in advancing the College's mission.

In addition, Karen Moore, esteemed member of the Tallahassee State College District Board of Trustees, has been named a Trustee of the Year finalist. This award honors outstanding contributions by board members who demonstrate leadership, advocacy, and governance that advance their institution's success.

Award winners will be announced during the AACC Annual Convention and Awards of Excellence Gala, scheduled for April 10-14, 2026, in Seattle, WA.

The AACC Awards of Excellence have recognized outstanding achievement in community higher education since its establishment in 2013. TSC has a history of success within the awards program, earning the Student Success Award in 2023. In 2024, TSC District Board Trustee Eugene Lamb, Jr. was honored as Trustee of the Year, further underscoring the college's sustained leadership and impact.
