Road Closures Planned for UW Statue Installation, Dedication

The installation and dedication of a new statue on the University of Wyoming campus will necessitate road closures this week.

"A Deep Seat and a Long Rein" -- a bronze by Chris Navarro, made possible through a generous gift from the Double 4 Foundation -- is being installed in the new roundabout at the intersection of Ivinson Avenue and 15th Street.

In order to place the statue in the roundabout Thursday, Oct. 2, 15th Street will be closed southbound from Willett Drive to Grand Avenue, and northbound from Grand Avenue to Fraternity/Sorority Row, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Ivinson will be closed from 14th to 15th streets, and King Row access will be blocked at the roundabout. Vehicles will be able to leave the Fraternity/Sorority Row lot but not enter during that period.

The same closures will be in place Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for a noon dedication ceremony.
