Dallas Community Resources Hub-

The Community Resources Welcoming Hub exists to connect Dallas residents with free and low-cost resources to enhance the quality of life for all in Dallas. Services include: food, housing, transportation, healthcare, jobs, education, financial and legal assistance, and more. Search resources in over 100 languages for FREE HERE.

National Immigrants Day- Monday Oct. 28

The United States of America is known as the world's melting pot, and every year on October 28 National Immigrants Day gives us a reason to reflect on just how unique that distinction is among the world's 195 sovereign nations. As Americans, we are proud of our long history of welcoming immigrants from all parts of the world and value their contributions that add zest to our nation's blend of cultures, customs, and traditions. State Fair of Texas Resource Guide-

Language Access- UbiDuo

The Office of Equity and Inclusion is excited to introduce the UbiDuo, a powerful communication device that helps bridge the gap between individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech impairments and City staff. This tool plays a vital role in increasing language access and ensuring every resident's voice is heard. 2. Safe, Healthy & Connected Communities

Grown Folks Jazz Night- 7:00 to 10:00pm Friday Oct. 18

Dallas Airport System will host an intimate evening of soulful music, delicious food, and good vibes under the stars at the Commemorative Air Force Headquarters located at Dallas Executive Airport. A Day of Remembrance- 10:00am to 12:30pm Saturday Oct. 19

The Dallas Police Department and partners are hosting this "Day of Remembrance" in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Attend this community event to raise awareness, support survivors, and strive for a future free from violence. See FLYER for more information.

Bark in the Park- 11:00am to 1:00pm Saturday Oct. 19

October is ​Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Join us for domestic violence awareness in our community. There will be special guest speakers, food trucks and pet adoptions in a family-friendly environment. For more information click HERE.

Sukkot Dinner- 6:30 to 8:30pm Monday Oct. 21

Part of the robust fall Jewish holiday season, Sukkot is a celebration of the harvest. During the 8-day holiday, it is the tradition to welcome guests to receive hospitality in a Sukkah, a temporary shelter that many Jews live in over the course of the festival. Water Marbling (Ebru) Workshop- Begins Oct. 25

Join Dallas Dialogue Institute for an immersive experience in the enchanting world of Ebru, the traditional Turkish art of water marbling! Guided by a Certified Water Marbling instructor, you'll learn to craft unique patterns on water and transfer them onto paper using specialized techniques and tools. For more information click HERE.

Dia de los Muertos Fest: District 10- Saturday Oct. 26 10:00am to 1:00pm

A day to gather, remember, and celebrate our loved ones who went before us. This is a free event with entertainment for all ages, lawn games, arts and crafts, food, and special presentations by the Lake Highlands's Folklorico dance. 3. Equitable Access

Enhanced Library Card-

The Enhanced Library Card (ELC) is a library card that contains a person's full name, home address, date of birth, and picture. In addition to all the benefits of a regular library card, it can serve as a method for verifying identity, particularly for individuals that face barriers getting a state or federal ID. You will need to consult with the organizations/entities with which you would like to use the Enhanced Library Card as part of establishing your identity to determine if/how the Enhanced Library Card can be used for this purpose. Art Walk West- 11:00am to 5:00pm Saturday Oct. 19

Art Walk West is an annual celebration of the creative movement in West Dallas. Presented by the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the Tin District neighborhood, the event aspires to create community connections through the arts while uplifting a diverse range of art spaces and artists. Party for the Recently Deceased- 7:00 to 10:00pm Saturday Oct. 19

30th Water-Wise Landscape Tour- 9:00am to 1:00pm Saturday Oct 19

You are invited to this free event to celebrate 30 years of Water-Wise landscapes and water-savings for Dallas. The festivities begin at the White Rock Pump Station. Freedom to Read- 11:00am to 2:00pm Saturday Oct 19

Oct. 19 is a Freedom to Read Community Day of Action, in partnership with Unite Against Banned Books, in collaboration with libraries and advocates nationwide. Celebrate your freedom to read by learning about the right to read and literacy education in Dallas. Reading is fundamental to democracy and early literacy is essential to lifelong success, which is why having the right to read is so important. For more information click HERE.

ArtsActivate- Deadline 11:59pm Monday Oct. 21

If the Dallas Cultural Plan 2018 taught us anything, it was to engage the communities, neighborhoods, and residents of Dallas through meaningful artistic and cultural experiences. It taught us to look at our city and see where gaps and inequities of cultural access and experience exist. To continue to activate and encourage the intentional creative, artistic, and cultural impact on the residents of Dallas, ArtsActivate calls for arts and cultural projects by our Dallas arts and culture non-profit organizations, social service organizations, individual artists, and artist collectives to engage with communities, old and new, to provide a more equitable, diverse, and supportive arts ecosystem for the City of Dallas. 6 Feet Under Texas with Tui Snider- 6:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday Oct 22

Cemeteries become open-air museums when Tui Snider takes you on a playful-but-informative tour of historic Texas burial grounds. In her photo-filled presentation, Tui shares forgotten North Texas history. For more information click HERE.

Gravestone Symbols and Burial Societies- 2:00 to 3:00pm Wednesday Oct 23

There's more to our ancestors and relatives' final resting places than just the words on the headstone. Headstone symbols, cemetery location, and the section of the cemetery can all tell us more about the life of an ancestor or relative. For more information click HERE.

3rd Annual Halloween Extravaganza Event- 10:00am to 1:00pm Saturday Oct 26

Celebrate Halloween with the Dallas Police Department and the AT&T Performing Arts Center at this 3rd annual Halloween Family Extravaganza where we'll have a scavenger hunt, games, and costume contests with the chance to win goodies and tickets! Along with the special activities, we'll also have family weekend favorites, such as the petting zoo, caricaturist, and face painters. It's going to be a fa-BOO-lous event! Osaka, Japan World Expo Opportunity-

Coat Drive 2024-Nov. 18 to Dec. 3

The City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS), in partnership with the Dallas Public Library, is collecting new or clean gently used adult-sized winter coats. Collection boxes can be found at these locations during normal business hours. If you or your organization want to organize a coat drive, contact the OHS Friends Group Team at [email protected]. Urban Design Peer Review Panel- 8:30am to 12:00pm Friday Oct. 25

​The Panel is comprised of local Design, Planning and Engineering professionals. The UDPRP provides urban design advice to City staff, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Boards, City Plan Commission (CPC) and City Council as applicable for projects. Matilda Bridge Tree Planting Celebration- 9:00am to 1:00pm Saturday Oct. 26

Free event! Rain or shine! Come be part of an exciting day dedicated to improving our local ecosystem! There will be live music created by the sounds of trees, food trucks, family-friendly activities including Blackland Prairie seed dispersal. I Don't Dream About the Future- October 15 to Nov. 15

Dallas Oak Cliff Cultural Center unveils "I Don't Dream About the Future" by artist MOM. MOM crafts contemplative spaces that delve into themes of temporality and the overlap of past, present, and future, broaching the concept of time in new, thought-provoking ways, as per the City of Dallas. The Untold Story of Mexican-American Veterans- all day Sep. 28 to Nov. 30

An exhibit in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Veterans Day. Mexican-Americans have served in the Military throughout history, but their stories have often been hidden or forgotten by textbooks and media depictions of veterans. For more information click HERE.

Renter to Homeowner- 4 part series: Oct. 4, 10, 25 and Nov. 8

Veterans Job Fair- 7:30am to 12:00pm Wednesday Nov. 13

U&I Spread the Light is hosting this Veterans Job Fair which includes the following free services: breakfast and lunch, resume writing assistance, wrap around services for vets and more. For more information see FLYERS.

One Future, Many Paths- 10:00am to 1:00pm Saturday Nov. 16

ImmSchools is hosting this "College and Career Readiness For All" event. You will be able to explore careers, navigate college applications, understand financial aid packages, and more. For more information see FLYER.

The Office of Equity & Inclusion

Our mission is to advance equity, inclusion, and social justice so all Dallasites can thrive. The office relies on the use of disaggregated data, community outreach, and resident voices to support the City of Dallas in understanding and addressing disparities to improve outcomes for all residents. Code Compliance

The City of Dallas Code Compliance Department consists of three divisions: Neighborhood Code, Nuisance Abatement, and Consumer Health. Code Compliance ensures city codes, and ordinances are maintained, so Dallas continues to be a clean and safe city. Code Compliance does this by working with neighborhoods by providing education and building partnerships with non-profits, neighborhood associations, and other City of Dallas departments.

Boards & Commissions
