Students from Lincoln High School will participate in a classroom immersion led by specialists from the STEAM Technical Assistance Center, part of the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative at West Virginia University, and with the help of WVU President Michael T. WHAT: The STEAM Technical Assistance Center, housed within the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative at West Virginia University, will engage ninth-grade students with support from WVU President Michael T. Bensonin a STEAM classroom immersion developed in collaboration with and sponsored by Hope Gas.

NOTES: All visitors must report to the main office upon arrival. A photo ID is required for entry into the school.
Members of the media are encouraged to arrive early. The event will begin promptly with remarks from President Benson, O'Brien and Peduto, followed by the immersion.
Guardians of the Gas Lineexamines how modern technology can help detect gas leaks. With instruction by STEAM TAC specialists, students will code micro:bits to simulate safety detection equipment and then calibrate the equipment to detect different amounts of "gas" present.
About the STEAM Technical Assistance Center:
The STEAM Technical Assistance Center has conducted more than 700 classroom visits across West Virginia, reaching approximately 64,000 students in grades 5-12 and engaging over 900 participating teachers. All immersions expose students to career-oriented skills and future job opportunities through the integration of multiple content areas at once, including science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, history and English language arts.
